Last month, MyChelle hosted a live beauty Q&A with Megan and Haily, our go-to beauty experts and professional estheticians. The questions came fast and furious and then, just like that, it was over. Because the questions and responses were so timely and relevant to the season, we’ve captured 10 and are sharing them here for your beauty benefit.
If you missed the Facebook event and have a pressing skincare question, we’ve got you covered. MyChelle offers a complimentary Ask Our Esthetician program that includes a personal consultation with one of our licensed estheticians. Q: I have dry skin with some flakiness around my chin and the sides of my eyes and yet midday greasiness all over. What products will help? –Kelli S.
A: I suggest using the award-winning Hydrating Cactus Mask 1-3x per week, and adding the Deep Repair Cream to your routine. The mask is going to help hydrate and deliver nutrients back into the skin. The Deep Repair Cream is an emollient hydrating cream to be used morning and night.
Q: How can I remove or prevent blackheads? –Janelle M.
A: A rich, sudsy cleanser will go deep to help break up impurities including dirt and oil. You can also massage the affected area for 60-90 seconds with the Fruit Enzyme Cleanser. In addition, using the Cranberry Mud Mask 1-3x per week can prove effective in drawing out impurities!
Q: I’m getting married in October, how do I get my skin in tip-top shape for the wedding? –Rachel J.
A: Congratulations! The Beauty Key 3 products are an excellent starting point for preparing your skin for the day because they integrate essential bioactive, high-performing skin care ingredients that perfect, correct, and protect. The Perfect C Serum can be used daily to help firm and tone the skin. Use the Remarkable Retinal Serum at night to improve skin texture and combat wrinkles without irritation. The full-spectrum Sun Shield SPF 28 is a translucent daily UVA/UVB sunscreen containing aloe to rehydrate skin and calm sun-induced irritation. For added smoothness, incorporate a great facial exfoliant 1-3x per week.
Q: I’m 40 with oily skin and my forehead wrinkles are really starting to show. What would you recommend to treat the wrinkles? –Julie M.
A: For firm, youthful skin, try Peptide+ Anti-Wrinkle Serum to reduce wrinkle volume and depth while increasing moisture retention.
Q: Hi, I am 56 and suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to the left side of my face. Fortunately, I have very little scarring but the skin is new, so my face is very young on the burned side and fairly healthy on the other side. I use the MyChelle Sun Shield SPF 28. What else can I do? -Glen M.
A: That you are consistently using sun protection is incredibly important and beneficial to your entire face. I also would suggest a rich nourishing cream, like the Deep Repair Cream, which will help repair and soothe the damaged skin.
Q: I’m a 30-year-old with normal skin and wondering if there’s one product I should absolutely add to my skincare routine –Allison K.
A: You’re not too young to begin using a retinal product to protect and help defend against premature aging. I suggest the Remarkable Retinal Serum. The anti-aging serum helps boost cellular turnover and is great for brightening the skin.
Q: What’s the best face cleanser for oily skin? -Jamie L.
A: The Fruit Enzyme Cleanser is gentle enough to use daily to help purify skin and balance oil production.
Q: My eye area is sensitive – how can I hydrate the skin without irritation? -Alissa A.
A: The Fabulous Eye Cream uses hyaluronic acid to help bind moisture to the eye area while adding much needed moisture. Bonus, it also diminishes fine lines!
Q: I’ve heard if you wash your face well enough at night, you should not have to do it again in the morning because the oils on your face are beneficial. Is this true? -Janelle M.
A: The best thing you can do for your face is to cleanse it morning and night. The skin sheds dirt and skin cells onto our pillows. Cleansing in the morning helps you to get the maximum benefits from all the skincare products.
Q: I have hyperpigmentation near the temples/cheeks. What are the best product(s) I can use to improve my skin’s appearance? – Cathy C.
A: I suggest trying the Apple Brightening line. Apples are rich in malic acid, which are effective in breaking apart the hyperpigmentation and fading the appearance.
Q: Help! My allergies are so bad right now that I have “allergy eyes”. I need suggestions for eliminating the dark pillows around the area! -Lisa M.
A: I would suggest the one-two combination of the Magnolia Fresh Eyes paired with the Fabulous Eye Cream. The first can be applied under the eyes to diminish puffiness and darkness, and the second starting from the brow bone to all around and under the eye to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles!
