There’s just something about summer that makes us think of home renovations. Maybe it’s simply the fact that the days are longer, so we feel like we have more time to get major projects done. Or maybe it’s our way of subconsciously preparing for summer’s inevitable end, when the weather cools and we return to spending more time indoors.

If you’ve also had home furnishings and renovations on the brain, we’ve got some fresh DIY furniture ideas – pulled from favorite blogs and our very own Pinterest boards – that will hopefully serve to inspire.

She uses the handles of cosmetic and hair brushes as examples; however, the same method would work just as well on any surface in the home (ie. cabinet doors, the edges of shelves – whatever you think could use an extra dose of sparkle!)

It’s a great way to add a pop of color in a sleek and stylish way to an otherwise neutral palette. Apartment Apothecary offers excellent examples and tips to get you started.

We hope these ideas have created a jumping-off point for your next home project. If you plan on trying any of these ideas, or if you have your own, we’d love to hear about it!
