I want to take a natural approach to my skin care routine. Are there other lifestyle changes I can make to maintain healthy, clear skin? – M. Neal, Raleigh, NC

Great question! While targeted skin care products can help ease and reverse the appearance of pimples and inflammation, we suggest the following preventative blemish busters:

  • Go to sleep and stay that way for 7-8 hours. This is the recommended time skin needs to recover and remedy any damage that occurred during the day.
  • Cut back or eliminate dairy product consumption. The additional androgen hormones in cow’s milk can cause hormonal imbalances in women, resulting in unnecessary breakouts.
  • Feast on a daily diet rich in antioxidants including blueberries, cranberries, and pomegranates. Doing so will help your face (and body) heal faster.
  • Change your pillowcase frequently to avoid bacteria or leftover makeup residue.
