Clear Skin 101: Part I

How do MyChelle Clear Skin products differ from treatments sold at my local drugstore? How are they more effective? – C. Crowe, San Diego, CA

Traditional treatments available at drugstores and discount retailers create an unhealthy skin cycle that includes episodes of severe dryness followed by periods of extreme oiliness. Most formulations contain harsh chemical ingredients that shut down the oil-producing sebaceous glands to dry out the skin; however, once you stop using the products, your glands rev back up and severe congestion and its symptoms often return.

The new MyChelle Clear Skin Collection is a powerful, plant-based regimen to restore balance to oily and blemish-prone skin and leave the complexion looking clear, calm, and healthy. The new formulations are turbocharged with our exclusive NatureClear Complex™, a combination of Lilac Leaf Cell Culture Extract to inhibit acne, support wound healing, and provide anti-inflammatory and sebum regulation; Grape Stem Cell to protect the skin against stresses; and Aloesin, a compound isolated from the aloe plant, to address post-inflammatory pigmentation often associated with irritated skin.

There are five products in the Clear Skin series, how do I know which are right for my skin type, which ranges from normal to oily/combination? – S. Lovell, Minneapolis, MN

Acne-prone skin does not discriminate, whether it’s a teen battling constant facial breakouts or an adult dealing with inconvenient, once-a-month blemishes. Regardless of age or lifestyle, oil overproduction, environmental aggressors, and comedogenic skin care products can all cause acne. Fortunately, the bioactive cleansers, treatments, and nutrients from the MyChelle Clear Skin series are formulated for all life stages to naturally clarify, detoxify, and promote clear and healthy skin. Use the following chart to select the perfect Clear Skin products for you.

I want to take a natural approach to my skin care routine. Are there other lifestyle changes I can make to maintain healthy, clear skin? – M. Neal, Raleigh, NC

Great question! While targeted skin care products can help ease and reverse the appearance of pimples and inflammation, we suggest the following preventative blemish busters:

  • Go to sleep and stay that way for 7-8 hours. This is the recommended time skin needs to recover and remedy any damage that occurred during the day.
  • Cut back or eliminate dairy product consumption. The additional androgen hormones in cow’s milk can cause hormonal imbalances in women, resulting in unnecessary breakouts.
  • Feast on a daily diet rich in antioxidants including blueberries, cranberries, and pomegranates. Doing so will help your face (and body) heal faster.
  • Change your pillowcase frequently to avoid bacteria or leftover makeup residue.
