Even though Labor Day Weekend unofficially ends the summer, you or your children may likely be back in school already. But even if you’ve gotten your morning routine down and are back in the swing of things, there is probably still room for a fun project (or two!) to help celebrate the new school year. Here are some ideas that we’re currently loving – sourced from around the web, and recommended girlfriend to girlfriend:

First of all, we’ve been seeing a lot of great ideas for “back to school”-themed parties around Pinterest (are you following us yet?) We especially love this one from Lil’ Luna: a Back To School Breakfast Party! What a fun way to celebrate the new school year, and get children and parents alike excited for what’s to come. Jenny from Bloom Designs Online recommends hosting a neighborhood breakfast party at your home and inviting everyone to stop by for a quick breakfast treat before heading off to school. There’s something about heading back to school that makes us all want to get a little crafty. Perhaps it’s the desire to personalize our items so that they don’t get lost in the crowd. You’ll never forget which pencil is yours with this fun and easy Washi Tape Pencil DIY from Smart n Snazzy. All you need is washi tape in a variety of colors and/or patterns – and some of those old ol’ No. 2’s, of course.

… And then you’ll need a place to store those pretty pencils, right? Check out this Wooden Pencil Box DIY from Apartment Therapy. It’s a little tricky to master, but the blog offers step-by-step photo instructions to help you out – and the finished product is seriously adorable!

Another must-have for staying organized is a cork board – but why stick with the same boring one that everyone else has? This Cloud Cork Board DIY featured on Paper & Stitch is so sweet, and pretty easy to make. And once you’ve gotten the hang of it, we’d imagine that you could customize it with your own shapes and colors as well.

Speaking of cork, remember that you don’t need to keep it confined to your walls! Make these attractive and functional Cork Storage Boxes, and everything on your desk will double as a message board. Full step-by-step photo instructions can be found over here at Sugar & Cloth.

If you feel like you still need one last accessory to spice up your study space, try this DIY Glittered Stapler by Pitter & Glink. The project is a fairly quick and easy one to complete – and the result will add a serious dose of sparkle and glam to your desk. Once you’re done, you may need to fight the urge to add glitter to everything!

Have you made (or are you planning to make) any back to school DIY projects? If not, are there any particular products that you’re excited to purchase or use? We’d love to hear your ideas and recommendations in the “comments” section below!
