I find that when I travel, I never know what to pack – because my skin can go crazy. Help!
The last thing you want to deal with when traveling is a breakout or problematic skin. Unfortunately, these issues are quite common because travel disturbs our normal skin balance due to abrupt changes in the temperature and/or humidity levels. Our skin becomes accustomed to its environment and can go haywire when out of routine. Additionally, when traveling, you may come across water with a high mineral content (“hard water”) – which makes it harder to rinse off detergents and cleansers. This makes the skin more susceptible to irritation. For these reasons, be prepared to give your skin extra TLC while traveling.
To prep your skin for your next journey, I recommend that you exfoliate the night before with something like the Tropical Skin Smoother to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores and restore hydration. Before bed, condition and moisturize your skin with the Deep Repair Cream to build moisture and ease any irritation or inflammation.
Be prepared to handle sudden fluctuations in your skin. Keep your toiletries bag stocked with supplies so you’ll be well-resourced. Here are a few recommended travel essentials (all meet TSA travel requirements, so feel free to carry them on board!):
- 2.1oz Apple Brightening Mist to restore topical hydration and flood the skin with antioxidant support while also giving it a dewy glow.
- Magnolia Fresh Eyes to decrease dark circles and puffiness while traveling.
- Daily Defense SPF 17, your nourishing cream and sun protection all in one.
- 2.1oz Apple Brightening Cleanser to remove surface impurities and brighten the skin’s tone and texture.
- 0.5oz Clear Skin Spot Treatment for on-the-spot recovery from breakouts and congestion.

Lastly, while traveling, it’s nice to give your skin a bit of color without much effort. Use a sheer, non-greasy lip gloss (something in a stick is ideal.) Colors that are rosy pink or light bronze usually work well on all skin tones and can be used on your lips, cheeks, and even eyes. A little goes a long way, so apply to your lips as you normally would but dab the color with your finger (clean, of course!) along the cheekbones to give your skin a boost of color and glow. You can sweep over the eyes with your finger as well to bring together a nice, simple, beautiful look.
MyChelle offers a variety of Little Kisses, a high-shine lipstick that stays on lips but contains no petroleum. These incredible lip colors perform like classic lipsticks, but they contain a healthy food-grade base. Little Kisses have beautiful glide, luscious lip feel and rich, warm tones that complement every skin tone. These Little Kisses can also double as your quick all-over color. Easy to pack, easy to use, looks great… What more could you want?
